UCO Quarterly: Q2 2025
Global Progress, Local Impact
Building Stronger Real Estate Markets Around the World
In our previous edition, we shared how UCO-Global is actively shaping the MLS conversation through international collaboration and strategic insight. From high-level national events like Clareity 2025 to impactful dialogues at NARVIGATE in India, we explored how MLS principles are gaining momentum worldwide.
These engagements reflect our evolving role as a global connector, bringing together policymakers, industry professionals, and stakeholders to build more efficient, transparent, and professional real estate ecosystems. As we look ahead, we remain focused on elevating real estate through customized solutions that create meaningful local impact.
Real estate markets across Europe are increasingly turning to MLS-informed solutions to enhance consistency, transparency, and collaboration. By introducing standardized data practices, fostering structured cooperation among professionals, and reinforcing accountability, the MLS model is helping create more efficient and trustworthy marketplaces across the region.
Partnering for Progress with CEPI
CEPI (European Association of Real Estate Professions) is leading efforts to raise industry standards across Europe. One of its key initiatives is the MMCEPI label, a professional recognition that promotes qualified, ethical practice across member countries. This initiative supports a more unified and trusted real estate experience for consumers while reinforcing the value of cooperation among professionals. Our VPs of Global Markets, Marion Weiler and Dr. Mathew Kallumadil joined CEPI at their General Meeting earlier this June, alongside 22 other countries, to discuss real estate advancements and MLS progress.
This initiative supports a more unified and trusted real estate experience for consumers while reinforcing the value of cooperation among professionals. Through our partnership with CEPI, UCO-Global is supporting these advancements by helping markets ask the right foundational questions and aligning MLS strategies with local realities to build long-term, sustainable impact.
Across Africa, real estate markets are poised for transformation, and the MLS offers a clear path forward by introducing structure, transparency, and standardized practices. At the African Real Estate Conference & Expo (ARCE) in Ghana, it became clear that accurate data and professional cooperation are critical to unlocking investor confidence and improving consumer experiences.
Reliable systems that support fair transactions and organized marketplaces are essential to building a modern, trustworthy property market. MLS adoption benefits all stakeholders; agents gain access to trusted, verified listings and stronger reputations; policymakers receive clearer insights and better regulatory tools, and consumers experience more transparent and secure transactions.
Looking Ahead
The energy and discussions at ARCE confirmed a strong appetite for change across African markets. As countries seek scalable, sustainable solutions, UCO-Global remains committed to partnering with local leaders to develop customized MLS strategies that drive growth and modernization.
By fostering collaboration and providing the tools for transparency and efficiency, MLS can serve as a foundation for a thriving real estate economy that benefits agents, policymakers, and consumers alike.
Solving Global Market Gaps with MLS
Across the globe, real estate markets face unique challenges such as transparency issues and fragmented systems, but the MLS offers a unified solution that brings structure, trust, and efficiency. It creates a common language that empowers agents, consumers, and policymakers alike.
Challenge: There is a lack of historical data that provides sales history. It can be difficult retrieving data from the National Cadastre, being both time-consuming and bureaucratic.
Solution: The MLS requires uniform data for all listings, capturing sales data and other property information that benefits both agents and their clients.
Challenge: Lack of transparent reporting of sales prices, causes taxation issues and much-needed government data remains missing.
Solution: The MLS serves as a blueprint for success, delivering governance structures, standardized rules and regulations, data integrity protocols, and hands-on guidance to establish sustainable, trusted operations.
Challenge: Brokers and agents rely on third-party portals, and listing data often becomes inconsistent or outdated. This lack of control undermines professionalism and hinders lead generation and client conversion.
Solution: The MLS helps organizations build trusted marketplace solutions that standardize listing data, reduce costs, and bring leads and value back to brokers.
Challenge: One of the most common problems is dealing with fake listings. Unethical agents will duplicate a genuine listing and offer it a lower price as an attempt to attract unsuspecting buyers.
Solution: The MLS establishes standardized data frameworks and governance systems that verify authenticity, ensure accuracy, eliminate duplication, and build market trust.
Challenge: Homebuyers are not represented by estate agents in the UK. Cooperative resistance limits market potential.
Solution: The MLS facilitates stakeholder cooperation that establishes buy-in across brokers, agents, leadership, and regulators.
Challenge: In Dubai, the MLS is in the early stages of widespread adoption. It’s needed to prevent duplicate listings, which is important for off-plan properties.
Solution: The MLS supports post-launch adoption with targeted broker education, engagement programs, and system optimization to drive usage and expansion.
